Riding Through Yesteryear

Today I explored a small neighborhood in Las Vegas referred to as "the Scotch Eighties."

It is not far from downtown, located across from UMC on the south side of Charleston Boulevard, between Rancho and MLK.

This neighborhood goes way back and has had some big names of past and present including billionaire Howard Hughes and mayor Oscar Goodman.

It was a brilliant evening, with a gorgeous sunset and a very mild breeze and the temperature around the mid-60s. I wove up and down and throughout the various dead end roads and cul-de-sacs marvelling at the vast array of homes, most of them remarkably different from the last.

It was nice to finally put a face to the name of this age old area that gave a fresh reminder of what Las Vegas used to be. The growth and progress in Vegas has been astounding but sometimes it is good to see that there is at least a little bit of old Vegas that hasn't been imploded.

Today's stats:
Distance: 5.91 miles
Average speed: 13.2 mph
Max speed: 23.2 mph
Overall time: 26:44
